A quiet tourist town in India has been thrown into mourning and shock following the gruesome sexual assault of an eight-year-old boy. The incident, which has sparked widespread concern, occurred in the popular destination of Manali.
Local authorities officially opened a criminal investigation on August 19 after receiving a formal report regarding the attack. The case is being treated as a serious crime under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, specifically focusing on aggravated penetrative assault.
According to reports, the child was allegedly lured to a Municipal Council room located in the Rambagh area on August 18. It was in this secluded space that the suspect reportedly carried out the heinous act. The victim has since undergone a mandatory medical examination to assist with the ongoing police inquiry.
Kullu Superintendent of Police, Abishek Sekar, confirmed that detectives are working around the clock to track down the perpetrator.
