Calvary Hill in Arima, Trinidad, was plunged into mourning this Sunday after two separate shooting incidents left two men dead in the early hours of the morning.
The victims, identified as 27-year-old Reon 'Rambo' Thomas and 38-year-old Ishmael 'Yam Yam' Vincent, lost their lives in a violent spree that shattered a 10-day period of relative peace in the country.
Police reports indicate that Thomas was targeted around 4:15 am while he was walking alongside his girlfriend on Prince Street. Investigators from the Special Evidence Recovery Unit combed the area, discovering 15 spent nine-millimetre casings and several bullet fragments at the scene.
Barely eleven minutes later, tragedy struck again nearby. Officers discovered Vincent’s body abandoned on the roadside. Surveillance footage captured the harrowing final moments of his life, showing him fleeing his vehicle as gunmen in another car opened fire on him.
These latest killings have brought the national murder toll for the year to 226. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances behind both attacks as they work to track down those responsible for the bloodshed.
