A wave of anger has swept through the Hailakandi district of Assam following the brutal rape and murder of a 15-year-old girl. The tragic incident occurred late Sunday night at a residence located near National Highway 6, leaving the local community in a state of shock and grief.

Reports indicate that the unidentified attacker struck around 11:30 pm while the victim was alone at home. The assailant took advantage of the family's absence to carry out the heinous crime, which has since sparked widespread demands for immediate justice.

Furious residents took to the streets early Monday morning, setting up a blockade on National Highway 6. The protest brought traffic between Assam and Mizoram to a complete standstill for several hours, leaving hundreds of travelers stranded as protesters demanded the swift arrest and prosecution of the culprits.

Police authorities eventually intervened to clear the highway and restore order. A significant number of officers have been deployed to the area to prevent further unrest and to ensure a thorough investigation is conducted.

So far, security operatives have taken five suspects into custody for questioning. Investigators are currently following several leads to identify the person responsible for this senseless act, promising that no stone will be left unturned in the pursuit of justice for the young victim.
