A Ryanair flight attendant has been forced to walk away from her dream career after suffering a traumatic sexual assault while working on a flight to Dublin. The woman, whose life has been turned upside down, told the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court that her sense of safety has been completely shattered by the encounter.

The perpetrator, 31-year-old Aaron Brady, admitted to the assault in court on Thursday. He confessed to consuming an alarming amount of alcohol, including five bottles of wine before boarding and another dozen mini-bottles during the flight. Brady claimed he had no memory of the incident, describing his actions as “out of character” and expressing deep regret for the pain he caused.

The victim revealed that the ordeal left her feeling a heavy burden of shame, making her daily recovery a painful and slow process. Beyond the emotional scars, she suffered significant financial losses exceeding €3,000, covering costs related to sick leave and her eventual resignation from the airline. Shockingly, the court heard that she had to bear these costs personally rather than receiving support from her employer.

Judge Jonathan Dunphy expressed his clear disapproval of the situation, particularly noting that Brady had only received a five-year ban from the airline, which the judge insisted should be a lifetime ban. The court has ordered Brady to pay an initial €5,000 to the victim within 24 hours as a gesture of remorse, with the case adjourned until June to ensure he covers the rest of her financial losses.
