The Indian government is leaving nothing to chance as it prepares to deploy a record-breaking 670 companies of paramilitary forces to protect the upcoming Amarnath Yatra. This massive security operation is designed to keep hundreds of thousands of pilgrims safe as they make their journey to the holy cave shrine in south Kashmir.
Scheduled to run from July 3 to August 28, the pilgrimage will see security personnel stationed everywhere from the Lakhanpur entry point all the way to the cave itself. Authorities are taking no chances, covering critical routes like Baltal and Pahalgam, as well as major transit camps and highways.
According to officials, the full security team will be in place by June 25. While the paramilitary forces manage the bulk of the routes, the Indian Army will handle strategic points near the shrine. Meanwhile, local police will maintain coordination to ensure that these security measures do not interfere with ongoing anti-terror operations in the region.
Travel safety is also being stepped up along the railway lines, particularly for the Vande Bharat Express routes passing through Udhampur and Banihal. This extra layer of protection comes as interest in the pilgrimage continues to soar, with over 3.5 lakh devotees already registered for the trek since April.
