Residents of the St-Laurent area in Montreal were thrown into a state of panic late Sunday night after a 17-year-old boy was gunned down on the street. The victim, who was caught in a surprise attack, sustained serious injuries but is expected to survive.
Local authorities confirmed that the incident occurred around 11:15 p.m. Concerned neighbors alerted the police after hearing several loud gunshots ringing out in the neighborhood. When officers arrived at the scene on Bourgoin Street, they found the teenager conscious but bleeding from gunshot wounds to his lower body.
Police spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils stated that the victim was walking on the sidewalk when the assailants suddenly opened fire. The attackers did not wait for the police; they fled the scene immediately after the shooting, leaving the boy behind.
No arrests have been made at this time as investigators continue to piece together the events of the night. Police are currently scouring the area for clues and witnesses to help identify the people behind this violent act.
